Christians created Satanism

Buckle up, because we are opening a can of worms here that will definitely surprise you. Satanism and demon worship weren't ever a thing until Christians created them. I know this one sounds a little wild but hear me out. And this actually isn't a hate on Christianity; it's just the truth. Take from it what you will.

Christianity created the devil, Lucifer, Satan. In order to believe in a red man downstairs, you must believe in a white man upstairs. They invented hell and the ruler of hell as Satan. And the Christians have a big problem with anyone they see as opposing them. This strong desire to see their opposition as diabolically against them is very destructive. If you believed in paganism (the prevailing ideology in most areas they tried to spread to), then they painted you as their opposition and labeled you Satanists, or demon worshippers.

They needed something to fight against, and they didn't want to argue on logic and reason and fairness, they wanted to ignite a hatred in their followers for their opposition. So, the original Satanists were just people who believed in something else than them. But no one back then was actually worshipping Satan, it was invented by the Christians.

This was the primary way that Christians would take over new ideologies wherever they landed their rich little ships around the world. Look at India, for example. There were many Gods and Goddesses there that were worshipped. And not all these images and sculptures were pure and virginal, like they preferred their idols. In Hindu and in Tantra sometimes the Goddesses were hideous, emaciated, and sour faced (hey Chamunda!), and this was to show you that beauty would fade, and not to worship that beauty. It was to show you that there was always a dark side to the light, and nothing could exist purely in light.

Well, the Christian conquerors saw these images and called them demonic. They labeled, and still do label, Hindu's as demon worshippers. But no one ever worshipped demons over there. It was a beautiful story of balance and acceptance and love beyond beauty. But the Christians had to create a fear and hatred in their base so that they could rape, pillage, and destroy that culture to the cheers of their followers.

If you label your opposition as evil, it will be much easier to kill them. And evil to the Christians always comes back down to Satanism and Demon worship. I've been called a devil worshipper on the internet by people who have been trained from birth to see all their opposition as that. People who cannot see outside of their own circular thinking because to question the label of Satanist is to question their own moral and religious programming. And their cognitive dissonance will prevent them from doing that until they are ready to finally step outside of the box and see it for what it is: fear mongering.

I saw a reel the other day about a Christian woman trying to explain how to stretch your body without summoning a demon, because she was convinced that yoga poses somehow called the dark lord into you. That's wild. What fear she must live in that she may accidentally do cobra pose one day and damn her soul to hell. But this is real. Christian fear of their opposition has bubbled up so deeply in the culture that they are afraid of yoga, a deeply spiritual and enlightening path that will liberate you from what holds you back... oh wait, there it is, the real reason they're afraid of their follower's practicing yoga.

But you may be thinking, no Lona, I've seen the Satanists today! They wear black robes and say Hail Satan! And here's actually where the story gets interesting! Satanism was the original trolling. Just think about me for a second, a rebel at heart, a contrarian to common culture, a fighter of the status quo. If they called me a Satanist, I would laugh and become that in order to scare them. I would use Satanism as a path to their own fear to highlight how ridiculous they were, and to fight back against them.

It's the swing in the opposite direction to try and balance the scales. Satan became a reclamation of freedom, rebellion, and intellect from the Renaissance to the 1800's. It was not a religion, but a symbol of religious freedom. To claim the title of Satanist or demon worshipper meant that you saw through the fears of Christianity and wanted to fight back against a religion that was literally murdering hundreds of thousands of people in their fight for religious world domination. It was also kind of a troll of Christians. Like, ok sure, I'm the Satanist, and you're the ones fighting for good... killing for good.

The first time we saw Satanism turn to more of a religious model was around 1966 in San Francisco, when Anton LaVey founded the Church of Satan and published the Satanic Bible. And again, this was originally a troll of Christianity. The biggest troll, I believe, exists as the Satanic Temple, founded in 2013. They use Satanism as a symbol of rebellion against tyranny, and a platform for secular activism and religious freedom. They say, "Great! If you want to have Christianity in schools, in law, in public buildings, then because of the right to freedom of religion in this country you must also welcome Satan".

They highlight the hilarious double standard that Christians have, that they want their religion to be dominant in state, but they are afraid of welcoming any other religion in. Satanists say let's not have either in the state, and here's a symbol of the devil to bring up your fear so you actually have to face what religious freedom really means.

Now, do some groups actually worship the devil? Yes, because so many people have been harmed by the Christian church that they needed to escape to something else. And if you were told your entire life that because you're (gay, promiscuous, witchy, questioning) that you'll burn in the fiery damnation of hell, then if you can't beat em, join em! Maybe a little devil worship will get you in good with the red guy downstairs, so why not! But it's important to see that they didn't invent this path, it was thrust on them, and they're just playing the hand they're dealt.

So, yes, Christians created Satanism and Demon worship because they needed an opposition so that they could take over the world to the cheering applause of their followers. Yes, they knew what they were doing in the beginning, and this fuels the hatred even today that we see, even if the followers now don't see the original farce.

And yes, it's destructive. People's lives were destroyed in the Satanic panic waves of the 70's, 80's, and early 90's. Fabricated stories were spread about children being raised in Satanic cults, and daycares being fronts for Satanic child sacrifice and abuse. But there was never any evidence presented that there was an underground Satanic cult of child abuse, ritual sacrifice, or a movement to take over institutions.

What was likely the cause of the Satanic Panic was a rise is social and religious freedoms. Women entering the workforce in droves, the sexual revolution, evangelical Christianity rising, and media sensationalism were all driving factors that were bringing our collective shadow to the surface. Devout Christians saw their way of life changing, and instead of embracing something new, they went back to their old faithful tactic to demonize anything that challenged their world.

But people's lives were destroyed in this process. People went to prison for false accusations, and many were eventually exonerated when evidence never surfaced. But how do you recover from that? Your friends, your families, your communities will not take you back. And some entire alternative communities were destroyed. There are real consequences from this kind of fear infiltrating our society.

So, what do we do? Well, I believe we start by recognizing this truth. Whether you are Christian or atheist or pagan or Hindu, it's important to see the tendrils of history and how they can create destruction. I think it's also important to start to understand that there is no absolute good and no absolute evil. Because who really was abusing those children? Men of faith in the Christian Church. Who really was murdering people? The believers of the Christian Church. And yes, many religions use their beliefs to kill, this is not unique to Christianity.

When we turn to dualism (good vs evil) it becomes easy to control people because you can point to one thing and say evil and point to yourself and say good. It becomes ever easier to play on the fears of people to control them, so become uncontrollable by seeing through duality. I cannot even stomach listening to Christian pastors anymore because of their constant use of duality to tell you how to act, while at the same time they're hiding pedophiles in their closet.

And yes, there are some sects of Christianity that are trying to fight this and reclaim their original message of Jesus. I cannot deny that. But they are not the dominant sects, and they still play heavily on this duality of good and evil, which will always activate fear in their followers. I do not believe Christianity is evil. I know they tend to be destructive and create fear, shame, guilt, and judgement. That does not make them absolutely evil, but they are certainly not absolutely good either.

I'll leave you with this. Notice the play of duality in any message you receive. Notice what it activates in you. Notice how you respond to it. Research and practice living and thinking in non-duality. You may notice I avoid using the terms good and evil. In fact, I avoid using many terms that are designed to activate that duality in you. There is no us vs them. There is only us. And when you let someone other a group of people, they will be able to control how you treat them. Remember that Christians created Satanism so that they could have an other group to fight against. This is not rare in this world. Become uncontrollable.

Maybe you learned something new, or maybe this was a refresher. What are you going to do with that new knowledge? Will you let truth change your mind, or will you cling to your beliefs because you're afraid of what else this might make you question? I'm willing to change any belief I have. Are you? This is where liberation begins.
